Bio

I am a professor of mathematics at the University of Texas at Arlington. My research area is differential equations and applied analysis, with research interests in scattering and spectral problems, inverse problems, wave propagation, and integrable nonlinear evolution equations. Some examples of particular problems I have been working on are exact solutions to integrable nonlinear evolution equations, quantum mechanical scattering and inverse scattering, and wave propagation problems related to speech acoustics. I directed an NSF site REU during the summers of 2003-2005 and an MAA-NREUP during the summers of 2006-2008 and 2010-2012. Every year I have been mentoring several undergraduate students, especially minority students, and directing their research. I am also involved in mentoring and directing the research of graduate students. In addition to acting as a thesis advisor for graduate students, I also act as a mentor in various fellowship programs such as GAANN, Bridge-to-Math-Doctorate, and S-STEM. A list of my publications is available at https://fermat.uta.edu.
