Bio
Nathan Kaplan received his Ph.D. from Harvard in 2013. He then spent two years as a postdoc at Yale before coming to UC Irvine where he is currently an Associate Professor (Go Anteaters!). His research focuses on number theory, algebraic geometry and combinatorics. He was an undergraduate at Princeton and participated in an NSF-sponsored REU program each summer during college. He is always looking for opportunities to get students involved in his work. Outside of math, Nathan has appeared on five TV game shows, including
Jeopardy!and
Who Wants to be a Millionaire?. His favorite numbers are 20,213, 52,416,000, and pi^2/6.
