Dr. Maria-Eglee Perez is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at the University of Puerto Rico-Ro Piedras campus in the area of Statistics. She got a PhD in Mathematics Degree from Universidad Central de Venezuela in 1994. She joined the faculty of the Department of Mathematics of the University of Puerto Rico, Ro Piedras campus in 2005. Previously, she worked at Universidad Simon Bolivar, where she served as Director of the Center for Statistics and Mathematical Software (1999-2001) and as Director of Graduate Studies in Statistics from (2001-2005)
Research interests of Dr Prez are mainly focused on Bayesian Statistics and its applications in life sciences (Biology and Medicine). She is author/coauthor of 19 peer reviewed publications, many of them produced through collaborative work with colleagues of these areas. She has also served as statistical consultant for institutions and companies.
