Kamuela Yong is an Associate Professor at University of Hawaii`i - West O`ahu. He comes to Hawaii`i from Arizona State University where he did an NSF Alliance Postdoc under the mentorship of Carlos Castillo-Chavez. Kamuela is the first Native Hawaiian to receive a PhD in applied mathematics. He earned his Ph.D. in applied mathematics at the University of Iowa.
