Bio

Dr. Joe Omojola is currently a Professor of Mathematics and Physics at Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO). He is also the PI for Enhancement, Enrichment, and Excellence in Mathematics and Science (E3MaS) grant and the Campus Coordinator for SUNOs Louisiana Alliance for Minority Participation (LAMP). Previously, Dr. Omojola served as the Dean of the College of Science and as the Chair of the Department of Mathematics and Physics. For his dedication and commitment to the education of minority and women and for increasing opportunities in the STEM workforce, for the same group, Dr. Omojola was awarded The National Role Model Award in 2006. As a validation of Dr. Omojolas mentoring activities, he received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Mentoring (PAESMEM) at the White House on Friday, November 16, 2007. Through grants and other related activities, Dr. Omojola has been able to foster effective collaborations with public school teachers and faculty members from other institutions.
