University of Minnesota Assistant, Associate or Full Professor of Mathematics

 

The School of Mathematics in the University of Minnesota invites applications for multiple open TENURE-TRACK or TENURED faculty positions starting Fall semester 2025. We seek candidates with a record of excellence in research, teaching, and service. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in mathematics or a closely related field. The department is committed to building a diverse, supportive, and inclusive community for all students and faculty, and is particularly interested in candidates who have a demonstrated interest in furthering these goals.

About the Department

The School of Mathematics, located in the heart of the University of Minnesota's College of Science and Engineering, features over sixty faculty and more than 120 graduate students engaged in world-class research across all areas of mathematics. Its core educational mission is to provide students with the analytical skills to thrive in the modern workplace, while fostering an inclusive and inspiring environment where everyone can achieve their full potential.

 

The School is supported by numerous centers which extend the research and outreach missions of the department, including the Institute for Mathematics and its Applications, the Minnesota Center for Financial and Actuarial Mathematics, the Minnesota Center for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, and the School of Mathematics Center for Educational Programs which houses UMTYMP - our program for mathematically talented Minnesota youth.

 

These positions in the School of Mathematics are part of a larger hiring effort in our College of Science and Engineering to add over 60 new faculty positions in the next several years. We seek to identify potential hires with the dynamism to bridge multiple fields, with a vision for their subject and the potential impact of their research program on emerging disciplines. Specific application areas of interest include but aren't limited to materials science, quantum technologies, medicine, public health, and sustainability.
