Tenure Track Faculty Position in Statistics at California Baptist University

Applications are invited for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in Applied Statistics in the Department of Natural and Mathematical Sciences at California Baptist University, Riverside, California. The position will start August 17, 2020. Though all areas of statistics background will be considered, special attention will be given to those with expertise in both data visualization and sports analytics.


The successful candidate joins an interdisciplinary team to strengthen and build the existing Applied Statistics, Actuarial Science, and Sports Analytics undergraduate programs and support the MS in Applied Mathematics program, as well as, possibly also assist with doctoral programs across the University. The primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate statistics courses to both majors and non-majors along with select graduate courses for the Applied Mathematics program or other graduate programs. Other duties include recruiting and advising undergraduate Applied Statistics, Actuarial Science, and Sports Analytics majors, engaging with undergraduate statistics-related majors and graduate students in original research or senior capstone projects, participation in departmental program assessment and curriculum development, and participation in other service to the University and department. Candidates must embrace the mission of California Baptist University, and evidence a clear understanding of, and commitment to, excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service as well as the integration of Christian faith into their work.

Preference will be given to candidates who have completed a Ph.D. in Statistics or related quantitative field by August 2020 and have prior teaching experience. Candidates who have a master’s degree and are pursuing a Ph.D. in Statistics will also be considered. Though all areas of statistics will be considered, special consideration will be given to those with a background in both data visualization and sports analytics.
