Augustana University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Mathematics beginning August 2019. Applicants must hold a doctorate in mathematics at the time of appointment. Responsibilities include teaching a broad variety of undergraduate courses in mathematics, conducting an active research program, and participating in service to the university and the profession. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to a liberal arts education.
Teaching Expectations: Excellence in teaching is highly valued, and the use of innovative teaching practices and technology is encouraged. Willingness to advise, develop, and work with undergraduate students is required. The teaching load is 3-1-3, with 15-week semesters in fall and spring and a 3-week January term.
Research Expectations: Evidence of a commitment to and clearly developed plan for a research program and future professional development is required. Priority will be given to applicants with a plan for incorporating undergraduate students into their research program. The preferred candidate will direct individual students’ work in undergraduate research and expository experiences.
