Tenure-Track Assistant Professor position in Statistics at the University of Missouri—Kansas City

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Missouri-Kansas City invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the area of Statistics to start August 2020. The successful candidate is expected to establish a solid research program that includes seeking external funding and advising doctoral students, to provide effective teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level, and to provide service to the department and the university. We especially encourage applications from candidates who will contribute, through their research, teaching, and service, to the diversity and excellence of UMKC and the broader STEM community.

The University of Missouri-Kansas City is a public research institution, situated at the heart of a thriving and diverse urban area, with a strong economy, a buzzing culture and arts scene, excellent schools, numerous recreational amenities, and affordable cost of living. The university is currently pursuing exciting initiatives to support data science education, with a focus on medical bioinformatics and big data analytics. The successful candidate is expected to strengthen the engagement of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics with these initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications
A Ph.D. in Statistics or a closely related field and successful teaching experience at college level.

Preferred Qualifications

We are interested in applicants who have foundational training in statistical computing, methods, and theory. We are particularly interested in someone who can foster interdisciplinary efforts with existing applied mathematics and statistics research teams in our department and the university at large. The applicants should have the potential to build interdisciplinary connections and collaborative interactions with local industry, and are experienced to teach graduate and undergraduate statistics courses.

Full Time/Part Time
Full-time, tenure-track, benefit eligible, 9-month contract to begin September 2020.

Salary
Competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience
