I graduated from Davidson College in 2001 as a Mathematics and German double major. After briefly working as an actuary, I earned a Ph.D. at the University of Georgia in 2007.

My research interests focus on applications of algebraic geometry to phylogenetics. I have served as a research mentor for a variety of students from underrepresented groups through programs such as McNair Scholars. I direct our institutions summer research program and especially enjoy working with students with limited prior exposure to mathematics research.
