The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Cal Poly Pomona invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Mathematics with expertise in algebra, number theory, or combinatorics, and with appointment effective Fall 2024. Duties and responsibilities: It is anticipated that the person in this position will teach mathematics courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. It is expected that the new faculty member will engage in scholarly research or grant activity and serve on department, college, and university committees. They also will have the opportunity to mentor student research.
Required Qualifications:
• A Ph. D. in Mathematics with expertise in algebra, number theory, combinatorics, or a related area from an accredited university by August 1, 2024.
• A commitment and a record of contributions to student success through applicant’s teaching, scholarship, or service. This will be described in the Student Success Statement, which must address at least two of the inclusive excellence criteria listed above.
• University teaching experience, for instance as a lead instructor, teaching assistant, or similar role.
